Program Description
Through the 9-credit Advanced Certificate in Teaching and Learning (ACTL) students are exposed to, and engage in, a range of pedagogical approaches and learning modalities that intersect with art and design. Students take a required introductory course, Teaching Art and Design in Museums, Communities, and Colleges (3 credits), followed by two courses (6 credits) appropriate to their interests or chosen pathway from among the following: museum education, community education, and college teaching. The pathway in community is divided into two sub-pathways, one focusing on community projects and social change and one on education for youth in informal settings such as nonprofit and community-based organizations.
